Domestic Terrorism

As we all knew would happen, the McCain campaign, through Palin, has brought up Obama's association with William Ayers. I'll let you all decide if Obama should be held responsible for the actions of Ayers. But since McCain believes he should, let's start looking at some of McCain's pals. In the last year, McCain went on G. Gordon Liddy's show and said they were "friends" and praised Liddy's "adherence to the principles and philosophies that keep our nation great." McCain has accepted over $5,000 in donations from Liddy including $1,000 this year. And like the accusation against Obama, Liddy has held a fundraiser for McCain at his house. For those of us you who are a bit young, you may not be all that familiar with Liddy so let me fill you in with a bit about his past actions. I'll start off with the less shocking and go up from there.

Names his shooting targets after Bill and Hillary Clinton (I know, no law broken there, but isn't it a bit un-American to take shooting practice at a President?)
On his radio show, he publicly instructed people on the right way to shoot at an ATF agent so has to effectively kill them. (Is it American to tell people how to kill federal agents?)
Admitted in his autobiography to plotting to kill journalist Jack Anderson.
Admitted in his autobiography to plotting with someone from the mafia to kill Howard Hunt.
Admitted in his autobiography to plotting to firebomb the Brookings Institute.
Admitted in his autobiography to plotting to kidnap leftist protesters so that they could not disturb the Republican convention. (Also interesting was that the phrase he used for the operation was taken from the Nazis).

And of course there's that little thing that made Liddy the most famous. You see, he spent 4 1/2 years in prison as a convicted felon, found guilty of conspiracy, burglary and illegal wiretapping. He was one of those involved in the Watergate scandal, probably the greatest governmental crises of the past century, if not all of US history. (How big was this scandal? It added a new suffix to the English language. Now when something is a scandal, you add -gate to the end of it. Witness Palin's Troopergate now happening in Alaska)
But don't worry McCain has this to say about Nixon and Watergate:
"I feel that, in the context of history, Watergate will be a very minor item as compared with the other achievements of this Administration."
A president resigns in shame, and McCain calls the incident that caused it "a minor item." I guess it is to him, since he still pals around with the man who caused the only resignation of a president in US history.

In my opinion, I think McCain doesn't care what he says or does, because he thinks(knows) that he's going to win the election, since he is running against a black candidate. In the end, its going to come down to race.

I'm afraid Sammy is right.

It's a shame.

I don't think Obama is the answer to this country's problems, but like you, I can't stand the deceit and hypocrisy from the other side.

And I'm sad that Obama is being judged by how much melanin is in his skin, or hysteria about his non-existent Muslim upbringing, or some other nonsense instead of the strength of his plans for our country's future.

Frankly, I don't think McCain remembers any of this. Either that or he is as ignorant as his running mate. Then again . . .
