The Last Post Before The Election

Well, this will be my last post before election day, probably until Wednesday. To those who have read a post here and there, thank you. To those who have been faithful readers, thank you as well. To those who have made comments or sent emails, whether we agreed or not, thank you as well for the dialogue.

Obviously, if McCain loses tomorrow, I am essentially out of a job. If he wins, I guess there will be a lot more posts to a blog I hoped would only last a few months. Either way, check back, and I'll let you all know more about my future plans.

And I won't tell you all who to vote for, just that it's important that you do. For myself, there is a certain peace in knowing that my candidate will not win tomorrow since I still have no intentions of voting for either McCain or Obama. I do hope that each of you have the opportunity to vote for the candidate that you truly believe in, and are not just voting for them because of fear of the other. And in that spirit, I'll leave you with a quote from one of our early presidents.

“Always vote for principle, though you may vote alone, and you may cherish the sweetest reflection that your vote is never lost.” -- John Quincy Adams

I just found your blog yesterday and wish I'd found it MONTHS ago. I have had to limit myself to only looking at 2 or 3 posts at a time because otherwise I could spend all day reading your stuff! Thanks for putting all of this up; I've enjoyed the education. I live in AZ, so it's a fairly safe red state, but we shall see tonight whether McCain carries us. Scary thought, really.

For all of our sake, I hope you're out of a job by tomorrow. No offense.

Since you claim - you were not supporting or voting for either candidate (Obama or McCain)- why don't you keep your "job" and do a blog on Obama - there's a lot more dirt to dig up on him that the media totally ignores...

A couple quick comments. What dirt is there that people don't know about? Since many people were getting their information from the Internet (at least according to reports, and which represents a shift in how we get our political information), what more is there that didn't appear on Newsbsuters, the Drudge Report, or any other site? They could find an aunt that overstayed a visa which I have not a clue as to what that had to do with anything, but you mean they were in the tank too for Obama?

Second, the election is over. Obama won. I have no interest in digging up dirt on him. I would have no interest in digging up dirt on McCain either if he had won. What I will do, and it might take the form of a blog at some point, is to voice my opinion on times when I disagree with the new administration. That's legitimate political dialogue. Instead of offering cosntructive criticism, you seem more interested in throwing mud.

Whether we like it or not (and both of us appear to have not voted for Obama), Obama will be our new president. I was impressed with McCain's speech last night. I was severely dissapointed in his supporters when they booed. It might do McCain supporters well to learn some humility. McCain's supporters seem to have the attitude that if they can't win, they'll take their toys and go home. That's why you're so intersted in digging up dirt. Obama hasn't done one thing yet as president and you want to dig up dirt on him. You're so eager to tear him down not because of what he has done but because you have ideological blinders on.

I was in the military when the first Bush and Clinton were presidents. I disagreed with both of them, and though it may shock you, I was probably more disappointed with Clinton than Bush, but being a soldier, I understood fully that they were my president. When you can say, without hesitation, "Obama is my president," then we'll have a common ground from which to have a political discussion. But since many McCain supporters believe that only they themselves are truly American, you may have a hard time saying that. I know many of your fellow McCain supporters would.

I'll let you know via the blog if I'll ahve a new blog sometime in the future. It will probably focus on politics in general. We'll see.
